Makardhwaja Vati Benefits and Uses

Makardhwaja Vati (Makardhwaja Gutika) is a formulation used in ayurveda for its aphrodisiac and rejuvenating properties. It is beneficial for men’s health problems including erectile dysfunction or impotency. It might also be useful in cases of premature ejaculation and oligospermia. However, it is mainly used for strengthening and stimulating the penile tissue.

Makardhwaja Vati Indications

Makardhwaja Vati is indicated in the following health problems:

1. Erectile dysfunction (impotence).
2. Hypotension (low blood pressure).

However, it is also indicated in premature ejaculation and oligospermia (low sperm count). In my opinion, it might not be effective in these cases. Because if it is used alone, it increases Pitta Dosha. In fact, increased Pitta Dosha with aggravated vata dosha is responsible for these problems. However, Makardhwaj Gutika might be effective in some patients who suffer from obesity and increased kapha dosha instead of increased pitta dosha.

The benefits of Makardhwaj Vati include its ability to strengthen penile tissue and treat erectile dysfunction in men. It also stimulates the heart. So, it might increase blood pressure in higher dosage. Due to this effect, the ayurvedic doctors also use it to raise blood pressure in patients with hypotension.

Erectile Dysfunction (Impotence)

Makardhwaj Vati has stimulatory action. It stimulates blood supply to the penile tissue and induces erection. Therefore, it is an effective medicine for erectile dysfunction. Because it has stimulatory action, its effects will not sustain forever. To get proper treatment, it should be used in combination with Ashwagandha, Shatavari and Vidhara Mool.

Hypotension (Low Blood Pressure)

Makardhwaj Vati has also stimulatory action on the heart and blood vessels. So, it can increase blood pressure. However, primary medicine for low blood pressure is Vishtinduk Vati, which is used with strengthening medicine like Ashwagandha and milk. If the patient does not get results with this combination, then Makardhwaj Vati provides additional support in the treatment of low blood pressure.
