Clinical Pharmacology
All ingredients present are immunomodulator. Long pepper and cinnamon also act as Bioenhancer. Piperine in the long pepper is most studied for its bioavailability enhancer action. Cough
Ingredients in Sitopaladi Churna have antitussive and anti-inflammatory properties. In many cases, it works well alone without any additional remedy. It is also beneficial in cough during pregnancy. However, cough may have several causes, but ayurveda divides it into main five categories:

Sore Throat
Sitopaladi Churna along with Gandhak Rasayana, Yashad Bhasma and Praval Pishti is beneficial in sore throat.

The above combination is a potent antimicrobial, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Therefore, it is mostly effective in Strep throat (streptococcal infection).
However, strep throat or bacterial infections are less common, viral infections like cold or flu are most common causes of sore throat. In such case, following combination of Sitopaladi churna is proved effective.

In addition to this combination, chewing fennel seeds (Saunf) several times a day is also best treatment for reducing symptoms like scratchy sensation in the throat, pain in the throat and Hoarse or muffled voice.
Tonsillitis
Sitopaladi Churna is recommendable in inflammation of the tonsils or swollen tonsils.
Asthma
However, Sitopaladi Churna is not a potent medicine for asthma, but it has role to reduce inflammation, swelling of airways and mucus production.
Tuberculosis
Sitopaladi Churna has bacteriostatic effect on tuberculosis mycobacterium. Therefore, Sitopaladi Churna plays a supportive role in the management of T.B. especially when symptoms initially appear. It may not be greatly beneficial in advanced stages of Tuberculosis as compared to Swarna bhasma and Vasant Malti Ras, but it can provide symptomatic relief in following symptoms when used along with potent antitubercular medicines:

- Coughing up blood

Note: If patient has cough, then according to type of cough as explained in cough section, the suitable adjuvants should be used along with Sitopaladi Churna.
Chronic Fevers
Sitopaladi Churna along with Jasad Bhasma and Praval Pishti is useful in chronic fevers. It has mild febrifuge effects when given with Praval Pishti, but the main role of Sitopaladi Churna is to digest the toxins that cause the fever and helps the body to eliminate them.
Many patients with low-grade fever suffer from fatigue, restlessness, loss of appetite and debility. Sitopaladi Churna is a drug of choice in such cases.
Low Immunity & Recurrent Infections
Sitopaladi churna contains potent immunomodulatory ingredients, which enhances non-specific immunity. Therefore, children with recurrent upper respiratory tract infections can get benefits from it.
